Join Thompson & Horton at the TASPA Summer Conference: Essential Legal Insights for Texas School HR Administrators

We are excited to announce that Thompson & Horton will have a strong presence at the upcoming Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA) Summer Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, from July 17-19, 2024. Five of our attorneys will be presenting sessions, sharing their expertise with Texas public school human resources professionals on important topics in school personnel administration.  

Here’s a rundown of the sessions our attorneys will be leading: 

Thursday, July 18 

Hiring and Staffing Strategies
Oleg Nudelman and Richardson ISD General Counsel Leticia McGowan will present “Hiring and Staffing in Rough Seas: Best Practices for Responding to Funding Issues” from 10:00 – 11:00 am. This session will provide valuable insights for administrators facing budgetary challenges. 


Pregna
ncy Workplace Fairness Act
Simultaneously, Amber King will lead a session on “PWFA: Deciphering the New Law and Regulations for Accommodating Pregnant Workers” from 10:00 – 11:00 am, addressing the latest legal developments in this area. 


Title VII Implementation
Adam Rothey will discuss “How to Successfully Implement Title VII Workplace Protections in the Face of New and Conflicting Employee Rights” from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, offering guidance on navigating complex workplace protection laws. 


Employee Grievance Handling

Celena Vinson will present a “Practical Guide to Handling Employee Grievances” from 2:30 – 3:30 pm, providing attendees with strategies for effective grievance management. 

 

Friday, July 19 

Sexual Harassment in Schools
Holly McIntush will close out our firm’s presentations with “Sexual Harassment 101 for School HR Administrators: The Interplay Between Title VII/DIA Local and Title IX/FFH Local” from 8:30 – 9:30 am, offering crucial insights on this critical topic.
